Studio Gumbo, Plant Pranks

Does Your Professor Make You Gumbo?

Mine does! And it was delicious!

(Of course, it certainly isn’t as good as my family’s)

So much has happened in studio! We visited the Johnston Square neighborhood a few weeks ago and started on our conceptual designs. My deign focuses on vacant corner lots with colorful murals that have environmental education themes. Here is a map of Johnston Square:

And here is the street that I am focusing on for my murals. The highlighted blue areas are the vacant lots I am looking at:

I’ve been enjoying the  design process for this site because I get to sketch a lot more! Here are some of my mural ideas:

And yes, it was pointed out that I forgot the U in “Square” so there’s no need to comment on that Mom.

I have also involved myself with some plant-related hijinx. The guy who sits next to me has been growing a little spider plant that looks like this (Notice the tiny size):

I found a giant spider plant runner and replaced his tiny sprout with a larger one while he was away over the weekend.

He came in yesterday and stared at his plant and wanted to laugh so hard but I didn’t! He re-potted it because it go so “big”. As he was doing so, he was voiced his concerns that the plant was putting all it’s energy into leaf production I have an even larger runner that I plant to replace his new plant with…Stay tuned…

UPDATE! I replaced his spider plant AGAIN! hahah!

THON Again.

I went to THON this year because I got a floor pass to visit my best buddy who was a dancer. It was pretty cool because I’d never actually been on the floor, just in the stands, so I got to see what really  goes on behind the scenes. My time slot was from 2-3AM so I wasn’t too thrilled about that, but then again, I didn’t have to stay awake and on my feet for 46 hours so I couldn’t really complain. The whole ordeal is a bit stressful but I did it and I visited her. Yay!

Birds of Prey

Logan was staring at these two red-tailed hawks when I was walking back from class the other day.

Procrastination Art

I had a minimal amount of work over the weekend, so I made a drawing of my plant window in my apartment using photoshop and a wacom pen.

  1. Hi Zoe! Thanks for the blog. It is exciting to see all that you are busy with. You should have no problem finding a job, with all the cool experiences that your program requires. So proud of the creative person you have become!
